On Water Regatta Liability

All members of Sail Canada have access to the On-Water Regatta Liability Insurance Policy. This is designed specially for Sail Canada members having trouble obtaining third party bodily injury and loss of life coverage for the on-water part of their general insurance program.

This policy covers your organization and its officers, directors, judges, sponsors, volunteers, employees and the race management team in the course of their duties on the water for any legal liability to third parties. This policy also pays for legal expenses to defend associated lawsuits. The coverage begins when the boats leave their mooring or anchorage for a race and continues throughout the race until they return to their mooring or anchorage immediately following either their completion of the race or their retirement from the race.

The coverage has a limit of $5,000,000. Members who wish to be added to the policy will become an “Additional Named Insured” under the master policy issued to Sail Canada. This coverage can be purchased at anytime for a flat rate and covers all club racing and regattas. Please note that the master policy renews on March 1 for a one year term.

To obtain coverage you need to complete the additional named insured request form and send it with a cheque payable to Arthur J Gallagher Canada Limited
