Happy New Year to one and all.
The start of a new calendar also marks the beginning of a new boat show season. To kick things off the Skippers’ Plan team will be at the Toronto International Boat Show at what is now called the Enercare Centre formerly the Direct Energy Centre or the National Trade Centre.
The tagline for Enercare (and my kids) is “It’s better inside” and that is definitely true of January in Toronto.
What to See at the 2016 Toronto Boat Show:
• The Lake
The Lake Cam is now live and soon the world’s largest indoor lake will host professional wakeboarding demonstrations, wakeskaters and waterskiers. You can alo try wakeboarding yourself or take a canoe or kayak for a paddle. There is also hands-on boat training as part of the Discover Boating Centre.
If crowds aren’t your style then the Special Preview Day is what you need. Enjoy a glass of wine and hors d’ouevres as you stroll the spacious aisles.
This year, when you treat yourself or that special boater in your life to the VIP experience on Preview Day, you can choose either the $100 Platinum Ticket, or the new $35 Gold Ticket! Click here to learn more about Preview Day, Friday, January 8, 2-8pm!
• Ask the Experts at The Boathouse.
A hub of knowledgeable and unbiased advice, The Boathouse is where visitors can “Ask the Experts,” as well as join workshops, participate in “how-to” demos, and get tips and resources on all topics related to boating, repairs, service and maintenance!
My Diesel guru Craig Morley will be there daily at 1:30 PM to share his vast knowledge of diesel engines for FREE.
The 2014 recipient of the Skippers’ Plan Claim Service Award – Kyle MacDonald of Bridge Port Marina- will also be in the Boathouse with boat maintenance tips.
• Food Truck Court Is Back
The food at the Enercare Centre is annual source of disappointment but last year marked the arrival of the INDOOR food trucks. They’re back again for 2016 you can continue to enjoy outstanding food at reasonable prices.
• Skippers’ Plan Charging Stations
Enjoy the food trucks and recharge your phone, iPad, camera or other electronic devices at the Skippers’ Plan Docking Stations.
• For the Kids….
There is information about careers in boating, paddle boats, wakeboarding dudes and dudettes, and even Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel. Kids 16 and under are admitted FREE when accompanied by an adult.
