Free Flare Disposal Events Scheduled Across Canada
Last week Skippers’ Plan posted the Flare disposal sites in the Atlantic Provinces and now courtesy of Boating Business Magazine we can provide an update with every flare disposal site across Canada.
Any flares you have that show a manufacture date of 2012 or earlier are expired. As soon as you add currently dated flares to your safety kit, you and your vessel in compliance with the regulations.
The expired flares can remain on-board but they won’t count towards a total flare count if you are stopped for a safety inspection. If the old flares show any signs of water damage or you suspect they no longer work it is best to dispose of them safely.
If you’d like to host a safety equipment education and flare disposal day at your place of business this year, contact CPS’ John Gullick at jgullick@cps-ecp.ca.
